I’m Giulia (it’s pronounced the same way as Julia. Soooo many people make mistakes with it!). I had a book report that was due recently and I chose one of your books for the assignment! It was “Guitar Notes”. It was the best book I’ve ever read!! I couldn’t put it down it was just sooooooo good!! At the end, I was even crying!! It really inspired me because I’m a musician too. I’ve been playing the saxophone for two years now and I’m a self-taught guitarist. I also love to sing. I’m really into classic rock like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin ect. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that you are a big inspiration to me.
I loved your message. You really made my day, and I needed it because I’m stressed out! I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed reading guitar notes and that you are exploring music yourself. Make sure to allow yourself to make a lot of mistakes and to experiment. Right now I just got a new CD of music and the singer sings very differently from me. I’m trying to push myself to learn some new vocal riffs and I’m really bad at it! But I’m going to keep trying and I know I’ll learn something. Just play. Just sing. And always be kind to that girl in you who wants to thrum.
Yours truly, Mary Amato
hi! I just want to say I love your book! 😀 AND your songs are AMAZING! The story of guitar notes really moved me. It actually made me cry (hahaha… I looked like an idiot xD) the part when Tripp felt like everything was his fault and he couldn’t do anything, I knew that feeling so I felt him. And Lyla as somehow a “people-pleaser” …. I knew that feeling too. And finding that music room as an escape to all the stress and having music to comfort you. Every part of your book made me…. find a new me. 😀
Your book actually had a big impact on me. THANK YOU SO MUCH for inspiring me!
Dear Krystianne: Thanks so much. My favorite line: Every part of your book made me…. find a new me. WOW! That makes me want to keep writing!
